Master Mohammad Karim Fazli

Founder
Master Karim Fazli, a distinguished Iranian entrepreneur and founder of Golrang Industrial Group (GIG), was born in 1932 in Tuyserkan, Hamadan Province. After completing his education and gaining experience, he founded Pakshoo Industrial Group in 1972. Drawing on the country's economic development trends and improving business environment, he worked to grow the company commercially. These efforts led to remarkable growth among the subsidiary companies and ultimately paved the way for the establishment of Golrang Industrial Group in 2003 — a group focused on expanding business activities and capitalizing on development opportunities. That same year, as Chairman of the Board, Mr. Fazli made a strategic decision to hand over organizational development responsibilities to young managers who, under his supervision and guidance, had gained hands-on experience in business and trade. The values and goals he defined as the founder of a leading industrial group continue to serve as guiding principles and core standards in the company's decision-making and ethical approach. Master Fazli, a tireless entrepreneur, manufacturer, and philanthropist, passed away in May 2020 at the age of 88.

Dr. Mehdi Fazli

CEO
Dr. Mehdi Fazli, son of the Iranian entrepreneur and founder of Golrang Industrial Group, was born in 1969 into an entrepreneurial family. In 1989, after completing his second year of university studies, Dr. Fazli quickly joined Pakshoo Company, beginning his work in production and management alongside his father. At the time he joined, Pakshoo had only 35 employees. Under his management and involvement, however, the company experienced significant growth, expanding both its scope of operations and its workforce. From 1989 until 2003 — the year Golrang Industrial Group holding was established — he served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Pakshoo Company. Through the joint efforts of Dr. Mehdi Fazli and his father, Golrang Industrial Group was founded in 2003. Dr. Mehdi Fazli graduated from the University of Tehran in 1991 and continued working full-time alongside his father. As he grew the business, he brought in a wide range of managers, graduates, and top talent. Alongside his extensive entrepreneurial activities, he continued his education through to the doctoral level, earning a PhD in Marketing and Finance.

About Kilos

Kilos Food Industries Complex was established in 2004 on a 15-hectare site in Abhar and is recognized today as one of Iran's leading specialized producers of malt grain and malt extract. Equipped with the only industrial malting tower in the Middle East, built with German and Swiss Bühler technology, along with malt extract production and concentration lines using Italian Rossi technology, the complex offers an integrated chain from barley processing to the production of malt grain and various malt extracts. The combination of technical expertise, advanced European technologies, and modern quality control systems has made Kilos a trusted partner for the food industry and for domestic and international manufacturers.

Malting Barley Agriculture & Industry

Where quality is born.

1. Research-Based Agriculture at Kilos

Selecting barley varieties is not a matter of guesswork or traditional experience — it's the result of data, testing, and analysis. This research has laid the groundwork for developing new, high-yield varieties. In partnership with research centers across the country, lines resulting from targeted crossbreeding are evaluated in these fields to introduce a new generation of malting barley suited to Iran's four climate zones.

2. Integration from Field to Malt

Combining agricultural expertise with modern technologies within the complex ensures every grain is data-driven-verified before entering the malt production cycle. We monitor every stage of production to guarantee product consistency and full traceability at industrial scale.

3. A Vision Beyond Today

At Kilos, the future of the malt industry begins in the field. Through research, smart agriculture, and sustainable resource management, we lay the groundwork for producing high-quality varieties and building a sustainable supply chain for today's generation and generations to come.

Kilos Malting Tower

The Only Industrial Malting Tower in the Middle East

The Kilos Malting Tower symbolizes the entry of Iran's malt industry into a new generation of industrial production. Using advanced technologies and a fully automated process, the facility enables the production of malt with consistent quality, full traceability, and precise control at every stage of production. The facility's initial capacity is 10,000 tons of malt per year, and its infrastructure is designed to expand up to 30,000 tons per year — a capacity that positions Kilos as one of the region's most important malting centers. Process integration, continuous monitoring, and engineered design have made the Kilos Malting Tower a hub for high-quality, sustainable malt production.

Brewery Lines

Extraction Engineering Before Concentration

Producing high-quality malt extract begins with a precise, engineered process. In this stage, malt grain, after milling and preparation, enters the brewery lines and, through a series of controlled steps, is converted into a clear, stable, and consistent wort. Precise control of process parameters at every stage lays the groundwork for producing malt extract with reliable performance and consistent quality. Once these process stages are complete, the wort — with controlled technical specifications — is ready to enter the concentration unit for malt extract production.

Concentration & Malt Extract Production Unit

Modern Alchemy at Industrial Scale

Producing malt extract is where knowledge, technology, and process engineering meet. At this stage, the wort derived from barley malt enters the concentration unit, where a controlled removal of water brings it to the desired concentration and stability. Using modern process engineering technologies and precise parameter control, the Kilos concentration unit produces consistent, stable, high-quality malt extract — a product that preserves malt's natural characteristics while meeting the needs of the food and beverage industries. The malt extract production process at Kilos includes the following stages:
1. Double Effect Evaporators (Under Vacuum)

At the heart of the concentration unit lies the double-effect vacuum evaporator — an advanced system that blends scientific precision in thermodynamic control with the preservation of malt's natural color and quality. In the first stage, evaporation begins using steam at a specific temperature. The steam released from the extract then serves as the heat source for the second stage. This thermal synergy increases energy efficiency and minimizes energy consumption. Concentration under low pressure helps preserve the golden color, aroma, quality, and nutritional structure of the malt extract.

2. Filtration

To produce malt extract at 60 Brix specifically for the malt beverage industry, the product undergoes a final filtration process after concentration to remove any remaining suspended particles and turbidity-causing agents. This process brings the extract's clarity, purity, and consistency to the highest possible level.

3. Sterilization

At this stage, the malt extract undergoes a high-temperature, short-time (HTST) process to significantly improve its microbial stability and shelf life while preserving the product's quality and nutritional value.

4. Aseptic Filling

At this stage, the malt extract is filled under fully sterile conditions and packaged in aseptic bags inside standard drums to maintain safety, stability, and ease of transport. The output of the concentration unit is produced at various Brix levels, tailored to customer needs and industrial applications.
